How much does delivery route software cost in 2026?

For a farm, bakery or florist doing up to about 1,000 deliveries a month, delivery route software costs between nothing and roughly $150 a month as of September 2026, depending on whether you pay per order, per driver or per stop. Texts are usually extra. Here are the published prices, what the units mean, and how to compare them at your own volume.

Last updated 7 min readBy Porch Route

Three ways vendors charge

  • Per order, stop or task. You pay for volume: a free tier or a flat fee up to a limit, then a few cents an order. Routific, Spoke Dispatch, Shipday, Onfleet and Porch Route price this way. It fits businesses with part-time drivers, because a fourth weekend driver costs nothing.
  • Per driver or per user. A monthly seat for each driver, regardless of how many stops they make. OptimoRoute, Detrack, Upper and Track-POD's driver plans price this way. It fits dense, full-time fleets and penalises seasonal ones.
  • Packages by quote. Route4Me publishes no prices and sells packages with paid add-ons; Onfleet's tiers start high and are aimed at fleets.

What it costs at three volumes

Units make the list above hard to read, so here is the same information for three businesses: a small farm with one driver and 150 stops a month, a butcher or bakery with three drivers and 800 stops, and a meal-prep kitchen with five drivers and 2,600 stops. Monthly billing, texts excluded, worked out from each vendor's published formula.

Porch RouteFree (Porch Light)$79 (Porch)$189 (Route)
Routific$150$150$378

Shipday Professional$39$89$269
OptimoRoute Pro (monthly)$49$147$245

Track-POD Advanced (monthly)$177$177$295
Upper Professional (monthly)$60$180$300
Onfleet$619$619$1,349
Per-order products: base fee plus the published rate for stops over the allowance (Shipday at 800 orders = $39 + 500 × $0.10; Routific at 2,600 = $150 + 1,000 × $0.15 + 600 × $0.13). Per-driver products: seats × the monthly price; Track-POD's three-driver minimum applies. Onfleet's Launch tier covers 2,500 tasks, so 2,600 needs Scale. Feature sets differ — OptimoRoute Pro includes proof of delivery, for example, while Detrack Advanced is the first Detrack tier with route optimisation.

Texts are the hidden line

Almost nobody bundles texts without a limit, because they have a hard cost: on Twilio, $0.0083 a segment plus a carrier fee of $0.0035 to $0.0045, so roughly 1.2 to 1.3 cents a segment, and a delivery sequence of three or four texts runs four to five cents an order. Routific passes texts through at $0.01 a segment and openly steers customers toward email; Upper excludes texts from its trial; Detrack has you connect your own Twilio account. Porch Route includes 750 texts a month on Starter, 1,500 on Porch and 7,500 on Route (then $0.015 a text, or 500 for $10), and email plus the tracking link are always included. Before you compare, ask how texts are billed and whether the business's own name appears on them.

What counts as an order (read this before you compare)

The unit's definition moves the bill. Routific counts an order once, when it is scheduled to a route; re-optimising and carrying it to the next day are free, and uploaded orders that are never scheduled don't count. Onfleet counts a task when it is completed. Spoke counts a stop when it is attempted, marked delivered or failed, accessed through the API, exported or printed — so a printed manifest is a billable stop. Porch Route counts an order once, in the month of its delivery date, when it is put on a route; updating, re-planning or moving it never counts it again, and limits are advisory: nothing stops working mid-route.

Free tiers and trials

Two products have a real free tier — Routific up to 100 orders a month and Shipday's starter plan — and Porch Route's Porch Light is free up to 150 orders on one vehicle. Everyone else offers a no-card trial of 7, 14 or 30 days. A free tier matters more than a long trial for a seasonal business: a CSA that delivers 20 weeks a year wants software that costs nothing in the other 32.

How Porch Route is priced

By orders, with every feature on every plan. The optimiser, drive mode, proof of delivery, tracking pages, zones, the orders API and webhooks are the same on Porch Light as on Fleet; the plans differ in how many orders and texts they include and in support. Annual billing is two months free, and every new business starts with 14 days of Porch's allowances and no credit card.

How to compare for your own business

  1. Count a real month

Stops on the road in your busiest and quietest months of last year. The busy month sets the plan; the quiet one tells you whether a free tier or a seasonal pause matters.

  2. Count drivers, including the occasional ones

Per-driver pricing charges for the neighbour who drives twice at Thanksgiving. If that is your fleet, per-order pricing wins on arithmetic alone.

  3. Add the texts

Multiply your orders by three or four messages and by the vendor's per-segment price, unless texts are included.

  4. Read the unit's definition

Scheduled, completed, attempted, printed — the same 800 deliveries can be 800 or 1,200 billable units.

  5. Check what's gated

Proof of delivery, live tracking, the API and branded notifications sit behind higher tiers at several vendors. List the five things you need and see which price includes all five.

Questions

Is there free delivery route software?

Yes, with limits. Routific is free up to 100 orders a month, Shipday has a free starter plan, and Porch Route's Porch Light is free up to 150 orders a month on one vehicle with every feature included. Others offer no-card trials of 7 to 30 days.

Is per-driver or per-order pricing cheaper?

Per-driver pricing is cheaper when a few full-time drivers each do many stops; per-order pricing is cheaper when several part-time drivers share a modest volume — the common shape for farms, bakeries and florists. Work it out for your busiest month using the table above.

Why do texts cost extra?

Each segment has a hard cost of roughly 1.2 to 1.3 cents on Twilio in the US, and a delivery sequence sends several. Most vendors meter texts or sell them as an add-on; Porch Route includes an allowance on its paid plans.
