Steps
Step 1: Open Drivers and choose “Add driver”
Enter a “Name” and “Phone” — route links and reminders are texted here. Email is optional.
Casual drivers don’t have to be here at all: any route can be sent as a texted link to a number you type.
Step 2: Decide how they open routes
“Signs in as” is “Texted link only” by default. To link a teammate’s account instead, pick them from the list; their routes then appear under “My routes” when they sign in, and you can still text a link for any route.
Step 3: Default vehicle, shift and zones
Pick a “Default vehicle” so new routes for that vehicle are assigned to this driver automatically. Turn on “Shift hours” to set a start and end; leave it off if they drive whenever the route needs them. Under “Zones they know”, tick the zones whose stops should lean towards this driver — a nudge, never a hard rule.
Step 4: Send the driver link from the route
Open a route and choose “Share driver link”. The sheet shows the route’s date and stop count and offers “Text the link to <driver>” (or “Just make a link — don’t text it”). Once made, the link appears with “Copy link” and “Text a fresh link”.
If texting isn’t connected yet, copy the link and send it from your own phone.
Step 5: Know how links behave
A link opens one route only, with no account or password. It works through two days after the route date, then stops opening the route. Texting a fresh link or choosing “Make a new link” cancels the old one; “Turn off link” locks it for good. The route itself is untouched.
If a driver has the route open when you replace the link, their screen locks until they open the new text.
Good to know
- The drivers list badges each person “Signs in” or “Texted link”, and shows their shift and zones.
- Removing a driver stops new routes being assigned to them; planned routes keep their name.
Questions
Do drivers need to install an app?
No. The link opens drive mode in the phone’s browser. Drivers who want it can add it to their home screen from the start screen’s prompt.
How long does a driver link work?
Through two days after the route date. After that it stops opening the route; make a new one if you need it.
Can I stop a link that’s already out?
Yes — “Turn off link” in the share sheet locks anyone using it out straight away, including a driver on the route now. Changing the route’s driver also stops the current link.
