Delivery route optimization
Delivery route optimization is the process of choosing which vehicle takes which stops, and in what order, so that every order is delivered inside its constraints for the least driving.

The constraints are what make it hard: time windows, vehicle capacity, what each vehicle can carry, shift lengths and where each route starts and ends. With three vehicles and forty stops the number of possible plans is astronomically large, so software searches for a very good plan rather than proving the best one.
In Porch Route the optimizer plans the whole fleet at once, treats temperature as a hard rule, honours time windows and locked stops, and reports what the plan saves against driving the orders in the order they arrived. The same inputs always produce the same plan.
