Savings vs baseline
Savings vs baseline is the difference between an optimized plan and a reference plan — the baseline — expressed in miles, time and fuel, so the value of optimizing can be checked.

The number only means something if the baseline is stated. Comparing with the previous week's routes, or with a deliberately bad plan, flatters the software. The honest baseline is the same stops on the same vehicles in the order the orders arrived — what a person would drive with no planning at all.
In Porch Route every plan is compared with exactly that baseline, and the savings are shown per route and for the whole day in miles, drive time and fuel dollars (from each vehicle's cost per mile). A distance that came from a straight-line estimate rather than a road is labelled as estimated.
